The LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) movement is a direct assault on Christianity. Our society has been given over to those who would like to see Christians take a back seat to their heretical agenda.
Homosexuality is now considered to be normal and accepted, transgender identities encouraged, same-sex marriages protected by law, living together without marriage common, and divorce a favorite option for many.
TV shows and movies now it seems on a regular basis, have a gay or lesbian couple kissing or worse, just as a side thought, with nothing to do with the plot. Adultery is also encouraged by the movies and TV.
These actions, among many others, are now considered right and acceptable, even though the Bible calls all of them sin. All sin is wrong and unacceptable before the eyes of God.
This is the kind of world we live in today. Christ said it so clearly during His earthly ministry.
Matthew 24:9-12 (KJV)
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
The Old Testament even warns of the time when good will be seen as evil and evil will be seen as good:
Isaiah 5:20 (KJV)
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Then let’s go to the letter Paul wrote to Timothy where we are warned about the perils of the last days.
2 Timothy 3:13 (KJV)
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
The Bible is very clear on the meaning of relationships between men and women, men and men, or women and women.
Romans 1:26-27 (KJV)
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
God’s plan for natural sexual relationships is His ideal for His creation. Unfortunately, sin distorts the natural use of God’s gifts. Sin means not only denying God, but also denying the way we are made.
When people say that any sex act is acceptable so long as nobody gets hurt, they are fooling themselves in the long run and often in the short run. Sin hurts people; individuals, families and whole societies. How sad it is that people who worship the things God made (the created) instead of worshiping the Creator so often distort the very things they claim to value!
One of the most common arguments made in support of homosexuality is that Jesus Christ did not explicitly condemn the practice. Supposedly, since Jesus never stated specifically: “Homosexuality is a sin,” then His failure to denounce the lifestyle can be interpreted to mean that He approved of it. This reasoning is riddled with error.
True Jesus is never quoted in the New Testament as having directly addressed rape, incest, domestic violence or homosexual behavior. So, are we supposed to believe all these practices are okay with Him?
When He discussed sexual morality, Christ had a very high standard, clearly affirming long-standing Old Testament law. He told the woman caught in adultery to “Go and sin no more.”
He warned people that not only the act of adultery was wrong, but even adulterous thoughts. And he shamed the woman at the well by pointing out to her that He knew she was living with a man who was not her husband.
Matthew 19:4-5 (KJV)
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
By defining marriage as between one male and one female, Jesus effectively condemned all other arrangements, including but not limited to one man and two women, one woman and two men, three men and one woman, three men and three women, one man and one man, one woman and one animal, etc. You can see the overwhelming logic of this. For Jesus to have to explicitly condemn every assortment of genders and numbers would be absurd. When He defined marriage between one man and one woman, He clearly showed that such an arrangement is the only one authorized by God.
The Old Testament law clearly prohibited homosexuality:
Leviticus 18:22 (KJV)
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 (KJV)
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
When people say, “Jesus said nothing about homosexuality,” they reveal that they really haven’t understood Scripture, or Who Christ was and is.
Because Jesus did explicitly define marriage as being between one man and one woman, the false argument to suggest that Jesus approves of homosexuality because He never expressly condemned it cannot be sustained logically, nor can it be defended on any type of moral grounds.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (MEV & NIV)
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
Paul was describing characteristics of unbelievers. He doesn’t mean that adulterers, homosexuals, and other sinners are automatically and irrevocably excluded from Heaven. All can be saved and go to Heaven through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Just believe on Him and be saved.
Keep in mind even if a person has a sexual attraction toward someone of their same sex, that temptation is not in itself a sin. If one acts on that temptation, then it becomes a sin.
Remember our only purpose on this earth is to glorify God. He created us so our lives would show His grace and mercy. Everything we do should glorify Him.
How can I glorify God if I’m gay? Abstain! How can I glorify God if I have sex outside of marriage? Abstain or get married. Don’t put yourself into any situation that would cause you to stumble and sin. Direct your love towards Jesus Christ. That will bring God the glory and you the salvation He wants for you.
All of us have sinned. All of us need God’s forgiveness. All of us have the opportunity to make things right with Him.
1 Corinthians 6:11
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Paul clearly states that even those who sin in these ways can have their lives changed by Christ. However, those who say that they are Christians but persist in these practices with no remorse, need to reevaluate their lives to see if they truly believe in Christ.
In a permissive society it is sometimes easy for Christians to overlook or tolerate some immoral behavior while remaining outraged by others. We cannot take part in sin or condone it in any way, nor should we be selective about what we condemn or excuse. As Jesus teaches, we must hate the sin, but reach out to love the sinner.
Ephesians 12:7
