“So flee youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” ~ 2 Timothy 2:22
Did you ever play with magnets when you were a child? If you had two of them, you probably remember that the closer they got to each other, the harder it was to pull them apart.
Temptation is something like that. The more you dwell on it and the closer you get to it, the stronger its attraction becomes. In fact, if you don’t look out, it will become almost impossible for you to pull away from it. Don’t let that happen.
Why do I mention this? Because the first step you need to take to gain victory over sin is to flee from whatever tempts you. Don’t play with it or toy with it in your mind; get as far from it as possible. I have known of people who had to change jobs to keep away from something (or someone) that was tempting them to do wrong! But it was the only way to avoid giving in to temptation and sinning.
What step do you need to take to overcome temptation in your life?
I have a passion for the history of America and its founding. I am a patriot and am very concerned about the direction our country is heading. I believe we were founded on Judaeo-Christian principles. I believe the direction of our country for the last forty-five years has taken away the very foundation that our country was built upon.
I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I served four years in the United States Air Force. I am retired and living in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been married for forty years and have three children and four grandchildren. I am an ordained chaplain and minister at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada....I, Leon, am the author of “One Nation Under God: A Factual History of America’s Religious Heritage.”
It is a study of our Founding Fathers; their beliefs, their goals and their history. It uses the direct words of the Founding Fathers from personal letters, personal Bible notes, and many more substantiated sources.
The book follows the spiritual direction of our country from the time the Puritans landed in the new world up to today. Our nation’s loss of faith in God and how that loss has impacted our society is profiled. It includes quotes from some of the people that had the most influence on the growth of our once great nation and some of the people and events that have caused our nation to decline economically, socially, and morally.
